Though some of us will forever bemoan the LP's demise, we certainly cannot
dispute the superior sound quality that is now available with the Compact Disc.
The total absence of surface noise is a most welcome development. A side benefit
has been the re-appearance on CD of many old recordings from the vinyl era. Over
the past two decades RCA (BMG-GE) has re-mastered a good portion of the Belafonte
catalogue in the new format. Here we will address variations that show up on these
re-issues, as well as the subject of previously unreleased tracks.
